Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center

Dr. Arends received her Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Dr. James Hagman’s laboratory, where she investigated the molecular mechanisms that drive B lymphocyte development and function. She is continuing her scientific training as a postdoctoral fellow in Dr. Stephen Tapscott’s laboratory at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. She is interested in understanding the significance of repetitive DNA mis-expression in FSHD. Specifically, how these repetitive regions are regulated, the consequence of their expression and their possible role in disease pathogenesis.
